'Photography is a portrait painted by the sun'

Although, where I live offers some great places to take photos, the only time I really concentrate on taking pictures is on holiday. So when on holiday lat year and watching the sunset creep upon the beach, I realized this was the perfect opportunity to take some photos.

So, lying flat in the sand and having to lift up my camera every time a wave came, I managed to capture the moment of the last few days of my summer holiday. I was risking dropping my camera into the sea but it was worth it! I've uploaded one of the series of these photos already, but here's two more. Again, the photos look better enlarged so click on them to zoom in.

Photography course

On Saturday 21st May I headed to London Town for a photography course that I had been looking forward to for ages! Our course had two main focuses. First, learning all the technical words in order to see how our photos will change, when we increase the aperture, shutter speed, ISO and more. Our second aim was to actually put this into practice with a model who had been hired for the course.
After actually experiencing a shoot with a professional model in a studio, I realize that without all the complexed scenery, complicated themes and fancy outfits, the photography becomes harder. This is because you don't have anything to rely on; apart from your photography and your camera. Here is just one of the photos I took:

My first photo shoot - 25/04/11

After selecting a theme of 1950s, selecting five models and putting together a wardrobe of fifties inspired clothing, I was ready to begin my first fashion photo shoot. I decided on two settings; finalizing my ideas to a 1950s tea party and 1950s carnival. Here are a few of my favourites:

My little brother

On an autumn day a few months ago, I managed to catch my little brother doing his karate routine outside. Normally, he hates photos and he runs away every time he sees my camera flashing, but on this day we compromised that I could take a few photos with him if I watched his karate routine and him playing football. Even though it wasted an hour; the photos are adorable! I took many, but here's just one of my favorites.

'Photography is one big scrapbook of your life.'-Lisa Jones

If one day, I invited you to my house and you looked around my bedroom, you'd see a wall which I'm beginning to cover with memories that make me smile. Photos that I'd taken with my best friends in my favorite places and family holidays that were so long ago. But why bother with reminiscing over the past when you can live in the future?

'A good snapshot stops a moment from running away.'

Photography lets me capture my happy moments and save them into beautiful memories. Although this is fun, I hope to expand on what I am currently doing and work towards my dream of fashion photography. In the next few months I have planned photo shoots with friends; concentrating on specific themes and matching my models to suit them. However, you can still expect a mix of everything - from more professional shoots to fun photos with my family.
