Walking in a Winter Wonderland

My favorite time of the whole year is the two weeks after December 17th. December 17th is my birthday - the 25th is christmas; and the winter holidays are generally filled with the most enjoyable times and unique festive arrangements -and as this time of year has come around; it failed to disappoint.
On my birthday, among my presents; I received an addition to my toy cameras - The Diana Mini that I had wanted for months. I love toy cameras because they let you experiment with photography manually; giving interesting effects that can't be received on SLR cameras. I loved the Diana Mini because it came with an attachable flash; as well as many sheets of coloured plastics to create interesting effects by changing the colour tint of the photo. It also enables you to create multiple and overlapping exposures.

The day followed with a trip to Winter Wonderland with some of my best friends and then a birthday tea. Here are some pictures of my day and my rainbow birthday cake; along with some pictures from my christmas party.

I'm going on holiday tomorrow and taking with all my cameras, so expect to see some pictures with my Diana Mini in a few weeks. Also, I've planned a new photo shoot for January; inspired by one of my favorite films - Black Swan, so expect those photos soon too.

Merry Christmas! xx

'The worst crime is faking it' - Kurt Cobain

So, as promised, today I did my new photo shoot. And as I predicted, it was very different to my previous ones. I decided to focus on one model, and I originally planned to set it in Camden, but then decided that simple white backgrounds worked better as I could concentrate more on the model.

So as the new school year has began, I haven't posted once. But I guess nothing exciting has really happened to blog about and I haven't done any new photo shoots. However, as we have finally come to half term, two considerably exciting things have happened:
1) My polaroid camera has arrived at last, which gives me the whole holiday to experiment with it and have a change from my usual camera and: 2) I have dip dyed my hair pink. So here are a couple of pictures of that, and one of my first from my new camera.
So that's about everything from the last month of school. Also, at the end of this month I have another photo shoot coming up, which I expect to be very different to the previous ones I have done..

Expect to see the new pictures soon..

'Life's not about waiting for the shower to end, it's about dancing in the rain.'

After not doing a photo shoot for ages, I decided for this one, I would try to revolve the shoot around a quote as supposed to a very specific theme that limits the photos a lot. I used the wardrobe, make up and settings to represent the mood of the photos, the first few showing the pessimistic negative way you can look at things by using dark and simple settings and heavy black make up and outfits, which then changed to bright colourful make up and clothes.
Here is my favourite series of photos:

After traveling around Canada and then around America, we ended in one of my favorite places in the world - NEW YORK!

We stayed in Times Square which is in the centre of everything and had shops open practically the whole night so we looked around the amazing shops at midnight. I also went around 5th Avenue and Soho, where they have the most amazing cupcake place! Here are a few of my favourite holiday pictures:

Once upon a time.

A quote from one of my favorite TV programs:

Life isn't a fairy tale, and happy endings are few and far between - Gossip girl

For my next photo shoot, I decided to base it around the story of Red Riding Hood.
In fashion photography, fairy tales are a dream as they present imaginative and creative ideas and a beautiful story line for you to reflect in your photos. However, there can always be a twist - so I decided to base my red riding hood shoot on the film version as supposed to the traditional story; reflecting Red's lover with the wolf's character.

'Photography is a portrait painted by the sun'

Although, where I live offers some great places to take photos, the only time I really concentrate on taking pictures is on holiday. So when on holiday lat year and watching the sunset creep upon the beach, I realized this was the perfect opportunity to take some photos.

So, lying flat in the sand and having to lift up my camera every time a wave came, I managed to capture the moment of the last few days of my summer holiday. I was risking dropping my camera into the sea but it was worth it! I've uploaded one of the series of these photos already, but here's two more. Again, the photos look better enlarged so click on them to zoom in.

Photography course

On Saturday 21st May I headed to London Town for a photography course that I had been looking forward to for ages! Our course had two main focuses. First, learning all the technical words in order to see how our photos will change, when we increase the aperture, shutter speed, ISO and more. Our second aim was to actually put this into practice with a model who had been hired for the course.
After actually experiencing a shoot with a professional model in a studio, I realize that without all the complexed scenery, complicated themes and fancy outfits, the photography becomes harder. This is because you don't have anything to rely on; apart from your photography and your camera. Here is just one of the photos I took:
